The In Hand Classes at the
South East Arabian Horse Group Summer Show

Ardingly, 19 July 2008

The weather forecast didn’t look too promising for the weekend of our SEAHG Summer Show, which in a change from previous years was to be held over both days of the weekend.
As it turned out Saturday was the better of the two days, a day when coats came on and off for most of the day.
Mr. Nick Arnold travelled all the way from Wales to judge the females. Luckily the sun managed to stay out for him and the girls didn’t disappoint him with their show. The stunning black yearling filly FS Velvet (WH Justice x La Dolce Vita) wowed her way to first place, and later on became the Reserve Junior Female Champion and then overall pure bred Youngstock Reserve Champion.
The sexes were shown alternatively, allowing Mr Arnold a welcome break and a cup of tea whilst watching Mrs. Diana Whittome, who travelled from the north of England, judge the boys.
The Silverdale Training Centre handling PS Amardo (Tehama Na Sidaqa x Arabella PA) took first place for the yearling colts and Silverdale won yet another red rosette, this time with Mr & Mrs Tyzack’s Laminiah (Laman HVP x CS Kalliope). This 2yr old filly also won the pure bred junior female title and went even further to become the overall pure bred Youngstock Champion and Reserve In hand Champion of the Show. Mark Hardcastle who bred Laminiah also bred the second place in the two year old filly class, Rose Jamaal (Jonathan El Ludjin x Rose El Jamaal)
Only two colts came forward for the 2yr old class. Psaradish (Psadisho x Ibn Esstashan Aravina), owned and bred by Miss P Weir, was placed first.
The beautiful grey filly Magica (Kubinec x Magnolia III) came first in the 3 year olds class and it was pleasing to see a good showing of 3yr old colts come forward. We saw another black Arab taking first place, the handsomely put together Roe Namrood (Simeon Sadik x Midnite Magic), bred and owned by Mr Aggad. Roe Namrood also went on to win the Pure Bred Junior Male and Reserve, Reserve Overall Purebred Youngstock Champion.

Mrs B Cary had the pleasure of judging the geldings which followed next. Both first places went to horses exhibited by Barry and Lynn Boreham. Bashir Rafi (Eldyr x Razala), for the 1-3 year old and Psynpsynatti (Psynergy x Lyanka), for the 4yrs and over class. Psynpsynatti also won the Mystic Moon Memorial Trophy for the overall pure bred Champion Gelding. Both geldings qualified for British Arabian Championships. Mandy Burr’s WLA Falcorr (Kaamal x Maakhana) who was second in the 4 year and over went on to win Reserve Pure Bred Gelding.

The Crabbet Bred Arabians were next in the show ring for Mrs Cary and her winner was Lorna Ewin’s Fairwind Jedi (Kasadi x Silvered Rosebud) with Robyn Haspineall’s Aurran (Silvern Sceptre x Silver Aura) in second. This class was kindly sponsored by Mrs Valda Angier.
Mr. Arnold was then back in the ring to continue judging the ladies and Maggie Lee BA (Magnum Psyche x Rohara Shahblee) caught his eye for first place in pure bred barren mare class and later she also became the Senior Female Champion. Karazal (Hejaz x Kazra) was brood mare winner and her foal Keiffa (Ffatal Attraction x Karazal) to win the foal class.

After a delicious lunch in the double-decker bus Mrs Whittome came out to judge the stallions. Only one junior stallion came forward, Germanikus (Azteq x Promice) and he found it difficult to settle on his own. This class was kindly sponsored by Heidi Creasy.
Euryk (PL) (Eldon x Europa) bred by Janow Podlaski State Stud won the senior stallion and finishing the day on a high by taking the honour of becoming the In Hand Champion of the Show.

Over in the Balcombe Ring, judge Mrs Pat Smedley’s first class was the young handlers. 12yr old Giverny Dursley with Nazaan (Zircon Nazeer x Suhan) came in first and second place went to Katie Turner who handled Esteban Ibn Narismma (Narismma x SFA Elysiah).
The popular Amateur Handler class was won by Miss E Shaw and Gaillimh Dunkerrin (Ashtairs Carlithos x Amadaus) and Esteban Ibn Narismma (Narismma x SFA Elysiah) came second again, this time with Hannah Weeks handling him.
It is great to see the older Arab return to the show ring and Shelia Morgans’ Maleki Ibn Almaza (Mannekix Almaza) won the veteran class with Samantha Jones’ part bred arab, Classique Triumph (Bamboo Saucer x Millbrook Jan Andrea Jewell) in second. Classique Triumph later came first in the AA and PBA geldings 4yrs and over, judged by The Hon Finn Guinness. This qualified him for Ponies UK and he was also went on to be the Reserve Anglo and Part Bred Arab Senior Champion.
The next class found Gas Seren (Balmaran x GAS Skala) and Balmaran (Padrons Psyche x Halenina) team up to win the Family Pairs.

The Show/Riding Pony under 148cm class was won by Mrs Page’s Senfold Catrina (Kilvington Scoundrel x Copy Bush Catwalk) who also went home with the titles of Reserve Light Horse & Pony Breeding Champion and Reserve, reserve Anglo and Part Bred Arab Senior Champion.

Kesra’s Image (Saker x Mayes Park Mystic VII) won the Light Horse and was Reserve, Reserve Light Horse & Pony Breeding Champion.
The Anglo Arab and PBA 2 & 3yr olds was won by part bred Langaller Leading Lady (Daws Firebird x Abscure), exhibited by Mandy Burr. This qualified her for Ponies UK. Langaller Leading Lady then went on to take the Reserve AA & PBA Youngstock Champion.

Sadly no AA & PBA foals came forward on the day and we saw one stallion, Mettlewood Jubilee Tribute (Kenzie MW Saracens Gem x Fransescas Cruise) who proved himself to claim the AA & PBA Senior Champion title and also became the Reserve, Reserve In hand Champion of the Show.
