The Ridden Classes at the
South East Arabian Horse Group Summer Show

Ardingly, 19 July 2008

Day two was the ridden classes and we were not graced with good weather. The rain was relentless and the horses and riders who managed to stay it out coped extremely well with the conditions. I am sure that fewer horses came forward for the ridden classes than in the catalogue for this reason.
The ridden pure bred novice mares were first in the ring and Judge Mrs Lidbury called in her winner, Mazayah (Palubnik x Mimoza), many congratulations to Sabine and Steve Lenny on their novice ridden mare win. It was Maisie’s first ever show and she went beautifully, a well deserved win.
First place went to Shavento (Ventican x Shakirah Gold) in the pure bred novice ridden gelding class and he also went on to become the Reserve Novice Ridden Champion.
Erald (Monogramm x Emigrantka), bred by the Michalow Stud, came first in the pure bred arab ridden stallion and he also became the Reserve, reserve Novice Ridden Champion.

The Anglo Arab and Part Bred ridden was won by the Anglo Arab Woodlander Fire Fly (Daws Firebird x Gold Standard), owned and ridden by Sarah Collins, Woodlander Fire Fly also went on to become the Novice Ridden Champion.
Mrs R. King judged the open ridden classes and the rain was not going to stop for anyone. Jo Woodward riding the mare Mi Dhahling (Abu Dhahi x Mirtala), already qualified for HOYS at Wessex, came first, she later became the Reserve Reserve Open Pure Bred Ridden Champion. Second place mare, Silver Lil (Siler Satyr x Lilacs Fantasy), ridden by Andrea Boyle, claimed the HOYS ticket.
Jo Woodward came back into the ring and this time rode a gelding to first place on Anazeh (El Mokari x Casablanca Bint Djammmal) he took the HOYS Ticket and later became the Pure Bred Open Ridden Champion. Andrea Boyle took second place again, riding Maleikero (Dakshah x Mel Queda) and went on to claim the Reserve Open Ridden Champion.

The third HOYS ticket went to first placed bay stallion, Juma (Sambist x Jerba Du Paon), ridden by Maria Pook. The Crabbet, Silvern Prince (Prince Sadik x Silvern Image), owned and bred by Mrs C Sussex, was the second placed open pure bred stallion.
Mrs King after riding the open ridden classes expressed that the horses were of the utmost standard.
In the Balcombe ring, where it wasn’t any drier, Miss Nicola Falconbridge got underway with the Anglo Arab ridden class. Jenny Keeley’s Desert Gayle (Ottergayle x Desert Colours), a full brother to Rachel Dear’s Ottoman, came first and qualified for Ponies UK. Desert Gayle went on to become AA & PBA Ridden Champion and Overall Ridden Champion of the Show.
The Part Bred ridden over 15hh class was won by Heather Black’s La Prima Vera (Grenlando x Hunter) which qualified for CHERIF.
The under 15hh went to Alpha Centauri (Voyajer x Beau Shamouti), ridden by junior member, Alice Heaver.

AA & PBA not over 14.2hh was won by Bourningwood Clasic Scholar (Cusop Disciplin x Bourningwood Bliss), ridden and owned by Nicola Spensley, he also became the AA & PBA Reserve Ridden Champion.
It great to see some more veterans having a day out and showed that they still have what it takes to be a versatile Arabian. Rebecca Napier-Clark’s Geeves (Gaymet x Helwa Lancer) was placed first with Marian Eydmann’s Kashish (Dhruv x Princess Roxanya), ridden by Gina Pirk, came second.
Sarah Daniell kindly sponsored the young riders class which followed.
14 year old Francesca Goddard riding the PBA gelding Fleetmead Man In The Moon (Mihyar x Ashurst Moonshine) came in first.
Nateek (Teekay x Nagwa), ridden by Victoria Ayling, won the Small Riding Horse whilst Night Shadow (Yealand Night Owl x Arndilly Rose), ridden by Alice Heaver, not only won the large riding horse class but also was the Ridden High Points Champion of the day.

A new class was introduced for this year, The Pure Bred Intermediate Ridden, this class didn’t require the judge to ride and was held simultaneously to the HOYS qualifying classes. It proved to be very popular and the Chestnut gelding Cachaturion (Centurionn x Ahmla), ridden and owned by Miss C A Gregory was placed first.
Other new classes for this year’s SEAHG Summer Show, was our very own Horse of the Year, exclusively for members. The horses entered needed to qualify at last year’s autumn show or this year’s spring or summer show and they joined together to give a show for judge, Christine Bayman, split into pure and AA & PBA. The SEAHG HOYS was created from an idea by Pamela Harrison to give something back to members and she sponsored the Pure Bred Championship which was won by Grenade (Grenlando x Silver Sariche), ridden by junior member, Monique Wallace.

Not allowing the Anglos and Part Breds to missed out SEAHG Chairman Pippa Bowles and Secretary, Rita Dingwall, sponsored the AA & PBA SEAHG Horse of the Year which was claimed by Nateek (Teekay x Nagwa), ridden by Victoria Ayling.
Many thanks again to all the organisers, exhibitors, judges, and spectators who made yet another successful SEAHG Summer Show, especially with the late change in dates to a two day format and of course the weather, the sun is booked for next year.
