It certainly is equal to any top quality European venue and I am sure the Summer Show will grow in entries in the future if it stays in such a fantastic place.
Day One hosted the inhand classes with Judges: Mrs J Lowe (GB), Males & Crabbet Class & Mr J Constanti (USA), Females & Mrs J Holder, Geldings (GB).
The first class of the day in the Bunn Arena, judged by Mrs J Lowe and sponsored by Dulkeith Labs of Woburn, was the pure bred yearling colts. First place went to Forever Spirit Of Versace (Forever Besson x Love by Design GA) owned and bred by Mr & Mrs M Foreman. This colt went on to claim the pure bred junior male and later the reserve pure bred youngstock championship. Zebauri (KZ Ibreez x Araura) bred and owned by Mrs H LeFevre came second in this class and claimed reserve, reserve in the junior male championship.
Next in, with the change of the sexes, was the first class for American judge Mr J Constanti, the pure bred yearling fillies. This was won by Atiyah MP (Legacy of Fame x WA Foxie Beyali) owned by Miss K Spicer. Second place went to AV Bahnanarama (OM El Bahreyn x MG Saffire) owned and bred Mrs Caroline Reeves. The class was kindly sponsored by Amar Patel.
The next classes were an amalgamated, Pure Bred Colts 2 & 3 years old and sponsored by Sjael Arabians. Sadly only one horse had entered, Fredoric (Mirokan (DE) x G Fantastica) he was handled by Seamus McCormic, owned by Mr & Mrs K & K Jones and bred Mr & Mrs J S Bundy, proving he had presence he went on to become reserve pure bred junior male champion.
Mr and Mrs M Gambrill, DGM Arabians, sponsored the two year old pure bred fillies which was won by AV Bayonsay (OM El Bahreyn x ZT Shakgeyma), she also had further victory by claiming the pure bred junior female championship and also the overall pure bred youngstock championship for her owner Mr A Allen.
The three year old fillies was won by the multi winning Laminiah (Laman HVP (BRZ) x CS Kalliope), she also won the reserve junior female championship for owner Mr & Mrs D Tyzack. Second place went to AV Scahrlett (Om El Bahreyn x Da Sandala), who went on to win reserve, reserve junior female champion for owner and breeder Caroline Reeves, this class was kindly sponsored by Jack MacFarlene.
Disappointingly only three entered the Crabbet Bred Arabian, which was kindly sponsored by Indalo Arabians, first place went to Marian Eydmann’s Tytus (Silvern Ghaalib x Princess Silphara), bred by Mrs P Harrison, Tytus also came second in the geldings 4 years and over. Second place in the Crabbet breeding went to Nazaan (Zircon Nazeer x Suhan), owned by Mrs A Dursley and bred by Miss A Parker. Third went to stallion Silver Breeze (Gleam of Flame x Dasht Malie), owned by Ms Rose Allen and bred by Mrs A Keet.
Judge, Mrs J Holder, took her place in the arena for the geldings, the winners of both gelding classes received a £25 voucher from the sponsor Feedmark. First was the 1-3 years pure bred geldings class which was won by Mr John Brewster’s Psyrabba (Psynergy (AT) x Lianna), he also qualified for The British Arabian Championships and became reserve gelding champion. Mrs French’s gelding, Ths Saaladin (Karat x Jemille) came second and also qualified for BAC, he went on to be the reserve, reserve gelding champion.
The 4 years & over geldings was won by Akabar Khan (Narismma x MA Bint Azadik) owned by Miss T Case. He too qualified for BAC and claimed the Gelding Champion title.
European Veterinary Supplies sponsored the pure bred barren mares and it was the strongest class of the day. Judge, Mr J Constanti, had a difficult decision to place the top of the line. The very feminine mare, proudly owned by Mrs Donna Gambrill, Rohara Aria (Magnum Psyche x SRA Ashley Bey) was first, this mare was shown by Rebecca McCormick and it was the first time she was shown in the UK. After winning this class she won the senior female championship and went on to become the reserve supreme In hand champion. Second in the pure bred barren mares was the big mover Metelica (Balaton x Marica) owned by Mrs Caroline Reeves and bred by Tersk Stud. Later she went on to become the reserve pure bred senior female champion.
There was only one pure bred brood mare forward, Aja Nasalia (Da Sandala x Nasika), owned by Mrs V Curtis and bred by Mr & Mrs Hickford, she won the vouchers from class sponsor, Balance Horse Feeds. Proving a worthy winner this mare went on to become reserve, reserve pure bred senior female champion.
We also had just one pure bred foal forward, a filly named Naszeema (Narismma x Saszarra), owned and bred by Mrs A Quispe-Flores, winning more vouchers from the class sponsor Balanced Horse Feeds.
Pharmaceuticals Direct sponsored the next class, the pure bred junior stallions. The black stallion El Mahaal (Mahaala x Ali Luya) owned and bred by Mrs V M Wood was pulled in first and later became reserve, reserve senior male champion.
The stunning Ffoenix (Ffatal Attraction x Alysia), owned by Mr & Mrs R Thomas was the winning senior stallion, he took the pure bred senior male championship and with it the Skronwneck Bronze and was also presented with an Arabian bridle from the very generous sponsors of the class, Scarlet Arabian Bridles. He eventually claimed the title of In hand champion of the show taking the Cobhambury Cup.
Second in the senior stallion class, kindly sponsored by Mr & Mrs A Harris Euro Medical was Mrs Tracy Austin‘s exquisite multi-Champion grey stallion, Ssinsation (WSA Charismma x Sabaara), who went on to take the reserve in the senior male championship.
Beginning the day over in Ring 3, with judge Mrs J Holder, were the young handlers. First place was awarded to Samantha Goss with Ku-Ribi (Kuraishi x Sahara) and second Giverny Dursley with the Crabbet bred Nazaan (Zircon Nazeer x Suhan).
Following on was the amateur owner handler class with Miss V Haydon’s Anglo Arab, Daws Lilly Of The Valley (Aesthete Al Khayal x Daws Hearts Desire), pulled in first. In second was another Anglo Arab, Weirton Royal Ascent (King’s Flight x Astral), owned by Maria Northfield.
Mrs G Bryan of Antoon Arabians very kindly sponsored the in-hand veterans paraded in with Shelia Morgan’s 26 year old grey stallion, Maleki Ibn Almaza (Manneki x Almaza) standing proudly at the top of the line, followed by Ku-Ribi (Kuraishi x Sahara), this time handled by Ms Postma. |
One of several new classes introduced to SEAHG this year was the coloured horse / pony youngstock 1-3yrs with Baronsdown Premier Boy (CA Bomb Bey x Quern Moon Shadow), taking home the red ribbon for owner/breeder Miss T Morris. The blue ribbon went to owner/breeder Mrs A Reid’s Another Level (Lostock Ladiesman x Chaos)
The 4yrs & over show horse / riding pony class was next in the ring and a win for Samantha Jones’ Classique Triumph (Bamboo Saucer Millbrook x Jan Andrea Jewell), he later came second in anglo & part bred geldings 4yrs and over. Mr & Mrs Napier-Clark‘s Stanwell Sundance (Cranleigh Elite x Stanwell Queens Flight) came second and got another second in the anglo & part bred mares 4 yrs & over.
Apache Sky (Comanche Deuce x Am I Dreaming), owned by Sally Ann Dale was the only one horse forward for the four years and over coloured horse/pony. However later in the championship classes he also took home the reserve, reserve show horse/pony & coloured breeding champion title.
By popular demand from the ‘Arabian Lines’ forum another class was introduced The Classic Head. The female classic head was won by Mrs A Taylor’s Nahneerah (Windsprees Mirage x HT Nafeica) but unfortunately there were no males forward for the classic male head.
A change of judge for the Anglo & Partbred in hand classes with Mrs S Woodhouse in ring 3. Her first class was the yearlings sponsored by Mrs N Hutton McKenzie. The perky grey gelding partbred Authentic (The Alchemist x Floure De Luce) won the red ribbon for owners Mandy Burr & Maria Pook. He went on to take the reserve anglo & part bred youngstock championship. Second place in the yearlings went to Morning Maybe (McGuigan x Morning Grace), owned and bred by Miss L Rumbellow.
The 3 yrs old Anglo & Part Bred class went to Mrs N Hutton-McKenzie‘s Mettlewood Morpheous (Mettlewood Jubliee Tribute x Southwark Astral Storm), he also won the reserve, reserve anglo & part bred youngstock championship. Second place went to Langaller Leading Lady (Daws Firebird x Abscure) owned by Mandy Burr & Maria Pook.
Triumph again for owners Mandy and Maria in the anglo & part bred geldings 4 yrs and over with the legendary dressage star Toy Story (The Paradelle Shadow x Crowstone Story Teller), he also took home the South East Region Shield for winning the Anglo Arab & Part bred Arab Senior Championship
Mrs J M Crozier sponsored the next class which was the anglo & part bred mares 4 yrs & over. Mrs K Gough‘s Paddocklow Persephone (Aimbry Chester x Paddock Paragon) came in first and the victory gave her the Magian Trophy, she was also the reserve in the anglo & part bred arab senior championship.
Dapper Mack (Limehead Dapper Jack x Nancy(not AHS reg) owned by Mrs K Carugati was on his own in the anglo & part bred foal, this class sponsored by Mrs Pippa Bowles.
The anglo and partbred stallion also only saw one forward, Apache Sky (Comanche Deuce x Am I Dreaming), he also won the reserve, reserve anglo arab & part bred arab senior championship.
Many thanks to the show committee, stewards, helpers and everybody involved for making such an enjoyable day (including the weather!). A big thumbs up to the new venue and hopefully we will see more SEAHG shows there in the future.
