Success for
The South East Arabian Horse Group
National Championship Show in Malvern 2006

Even though the ground was hard and the weather was pretty hot it didn’t seem to stifle anybody's enthusiasm at the show.

Probably the most noticeable success for SEAHG has to go to Rachel Dear’s Anglo Arab, Ottoman (Ottergayle x Desert Colours). Rachel will have to get planning permission for a trophy room on the end of Ottoman’s stable after he seemed to win every class he entered.

For the sixth year in succession the South East Group managed to secure first place in the Regional Dressage Teams Competition. The team was
made up of Hayley Bunday riding her gelding, Akheem ( Zircon Nazeer x Khashara ), Maria Pook on Mandy Burr’s Anglo Arab, Spice Girl ( Paradelle Shadow x  Her Ladyship ) and Mandy Burr riding her own grey pure bred gelding, El Carmelle ( Carmargue x Eternelle ).Maria won both the British Dressage Medium and the British Dressage Elementary  dressage classes on Spice Girl while Hayley and Mandy were awarded places in their tests.

Sadly we only had enough members to raise one dressage team but another South East member also to be well placed in their dressage tests was Rebecca Napier-Clark on Melzi (Da Vinci x  Masora (DE), who is owned in partnership with Sarah Easton and also on her own versatile Arab gelding, Geeves (Gaymet x Helwa Lancer (US). Geeves is a great example of how versatile and fun an Arab can be when in the right partnership. The pair were not only placed in the dressage but also in show jumping and western riding. Rebecca also showed him in the ridden and inhand classes.

On the second day in front of the grandstand crowds of the main ring Jessica Amess moved up into first place to win the young handler with Dr Joan Bishops’ mare, Muzahla ( Platoon HT (NL)  x Muzehraa ), the smile on Jessica’s face said it all.

Mandy Burr’s perky coloured skewbald gelding yearling, Perriland Politician  (Harroway Mr Harliquin x Morning Magic ), handled and part-owned by Maria Pook, was placed as reserve part-bred arab gelding champion after also being placed in a strong coloured class.

Della Theobald managed second place in the novice ridden anglo arab on her grey  gelding, Highlander (Tachyon Park x Hortensja (PL).

Mrs Hillman won the Anglo Arab yearling class with her bay colt, Kelmstone Sea Otter (Ottergayle x Kelmstone Royal Star).
Hannah Weeks rode a beautiful show and came fourth on Mandy Burr’s gelding, El Carmelle (Carmargue x Eternelle), in the Junior riders born after 1988. Hannah was also placed fifth in the young handlers on Thursday.
Another young rider to make a mark for the South East was Miss R. Morrish riding Dr Joan Bishop’s pure bred arab mare, Muzahla (Platoon HT (NL)  x Muzehraa), she came second in the Intermediate ridden class.

Megan Harwood, riding Grashakyme (Nzaan x Mandarin Dream), came second in the Senior Arabian novice ridden gelding.

Two very cute foals with the aaaah factor the filly, AV Scahrlett (Om El Bahreyn (US) x DA Sandala (US), bred by Caroline Reeves, winning her class and going on to take reserve champion foal.

The other filly (Ali Khaziel x OML Sabiya Estopa (US)  from Silverdale Training Centre also came second in her foal class. The Silverdale Training Centre also came second with a grey mare, Naziek (Om El Azadik (US) x Libanon Esplashal (NL).

Anne Cunningham’s two year old gelding, Faramir CA (Om El Shaheen (US) x SFA Passionata), came fourth.

Jamie Adkins senior filly, Marleen (DE) (Ibn Narav (DE) x  Marena (DE), came a very respectable third place in such a large class.

Mr Aggad’s, Roe Jalmood (Om El Mareikh (US)  x PR Midnite Magic (US), came third in the two year old colts class. Mr Aggad also had a fourth for the filly, Roe Lujaine (Om El Mareikh (US) x ZT Ludjbrosiaa (AR),

however the icing on the cake for Mr Aggad was when the striking, Roe Naimrood (Simeon Sadik (AU) x PR Midnite Magic (US), won his class for yearling colts and then went on to claim the  Reserve Champion.

I must mention the eye catching colt, AV Montoya (WH Justice x Metelica 8 (RU),  bred by AV Arabians’, Caroline Reeves, but is now owned by Mrs Sue Bundy. AV Montoya won his class of colt yearlings and then went on to win the Championship. One to look out in the future I feel.
