A big thank you to Wendy Carr, Seamus & Rebecca McCormick for hosting this day at their wonderful Arabian Stud which is set down the end of a long farm track in the countryside of Sussex. They have been breeding Arabians for over 30 years, using two principle lines, Silver Fire and Nuhra outcrossing these with stallions firstly of Egyptian bloodlines and then Polish. More recently using El Shaklan related mares, Pure Polish and Straight Russian The stud consists of around 70 Arabians approximately 40 broodmares, 10 stallion and making up the rest with youngstock. |

The weather was perfect for a BBQ which was cooking on arrival and on offer all throughout the afternoon. With the drought conditions of South East England the parade took place in the back paddock instead of the usual outside sand menage.Very sensible too, as I think we would have all being covered in an authentic dusty desert if the horses strutted their stuff in the sand.
The voice of Mike Ashmore talked us through the horses with banter between Nick Arnold and himself which amused us all. |
The Stallions were first and always giving a good show The stunning grey stallion Om el Shaheen (Sanadik El Shaklan x Om El Shaina) jointly owned by Silverdale and Aritzana Arabians (Mr and Mrs Rodgers). His bloodlines are with Sanadik El Shaklan, Carmarge and Estopa with numerous show wins both here and abroad. |

The grande finale was the next generation of handlers, Megan McCormick, the eldest daughter of Seamus and Rebecca. Megan handling Sasza, complete with Princess Muna saddle, concluded the parade in fine style and as I looked back into a well appreciating crowd I could see a very proud grandmother watching . Well down to everyone. |
