SEAHG Spring Show -
20 April 2008
In-Hand classes report
by Sarah Jarrett
A glorious spring day ensured the South East Arabs were out in full force! Defying the recent spate of very wet weather in the region, it was clear that a lot of bathing went on the day before as all horses forward were beautifully turned out as usual.
The day started with the Anglo & Part Bred Classes judged by Rebecca McCormick.
The first class was a amalgamation of classes 1 to 3 and included two late entries, a lively but impressive performance from the PBA Renelles Florentine (Stanley Grange Royal Appointment x Renelles) secured the 1,2 & 3yr old top spot. The 4yr & over Mares also saw a late entry Abbas Music, (Cusop Disciplin x Abbas Racing Colours) who went onto catch the judge’s eye to win and secure her place in the championship.
The morning moved swiftly on and saw a 7 strong class for the 4yr & over Geldings. The judge had a tough job as several of the horses forward had Champion written all over them! My particular favourite was the stunning Chestnut PBA Belle Vue Highlander (Kizar x Lady of Iona) who, after a lot of deliberating, was pipped to first place by PBA Sahereca Gracious Gift

C A Bomb Bey |
Dramatic entrances coupled with lots of snorting and general showing off heralded the start of the Stallion class. With only two forward the judge was quick to make her decision and Deanhills Prince Regent (Sandbourne Royal Ensign x Bradmore Nutkin) was placed first ahead of the crowd favourite CA Bomb Bey (NV Beau Bey x CA Intoxicating)

PBAs were the order of the day in the Championship with the Supreme accolade awarded to PBA Gelding Sahereca Gracious Gift and the young PBA Mare Renelles Florentine (Stanley Grange Royal Appointment x Renelles) taking Reserve. PBA Stallion Deanhills Prince Regent (Sandbourne Royal Ensign x Bradmore Nutkin) took Reserve Reserve.
Class 7, also judged by Rebecca McCormick, saw the arrival of the gorgeous Crabbet Arabians and the stunning Purebred in-hand halters made their first appearance of the day! With an impressive 9 horses forward, the crowds flocked to the ring side to witness Jill Fuller’s Bey Daghmah (Ganemede x Dahmah) take the honours ahead of G Bryan’s IBN Al Antoon (Antoon x Kariszma) who should have won an award for the most luxurious mane of the day! Third place went to Marian Eydmann’s Tytus. (Silvern Ghaalib x Princess Silphara)
The Amateur Owner/Handler Class also saw a strong 9 horse turnout, and the judge picked her winner as Bourningwood Imagination (Imad x Azara Bint Azadik) with Muzilka (SHF Billy BOB x Muzita) in second place and Esteban IBN Narismma(Narismma x SFA Elysiah) taking third. |
Muzilka |
Moving into lunchtime saw the opportunity for the young handler’s to show the adults how it’s done! Muzilka’s (SHF Billy BOB x Muzita) handler defied her 14yrs years to go one better than in the previous class and take the top spot with Zircon Issima (Sha'Jameel x Kazaba) in second place and Nazaan (Zircon Nazeer x Suhan) handled by Givery Dursley taking third.

Rebecca McCormick’s last class to judge of the morning was a crowd favourite, the Veterans. The 27yr old The Frosted Orange (The Prince of Orange x Holly Blue) proved that he’s still got what it takes to secure first place ahead of the 16yr old Classique Triumph (Bamboo Saucer x Millbrook Jan Andrea Jewell) After a brief break, the Purebred Classes started, judged by Miss V Booth.
A disappointing turnout in the Yearling Fillies saw only one forward, Kaamelia (Emiliusz x Tehama Ballalina) Maybe the others decided it was much too nice an afternoon to spend indoors and stayed in the field? At least Kaamelia (Emiliusz x Tehama Ballalina) had a good run out and was well liked by the judge and the crowd!
The yearling colts saw a few more come forward, and with it, the usual chorus of shouting and showing off to let us all know how wonderful they are! The beautifully behaved Legend of Orange (The Frosted Orange x Ljubica) followed in his father’s footsteps to take first place with Hathek (Simeon Sadir xLady Ace) in second and a very lively Orlando (OM EL Mareikh x Caeclia) in third.
Calimeer (Edon x Calamintha) a late entry, just made it into the ring after 4 hour lorry journey to take the 2 & 3yr old colt class
After a quick break it was straight onto the 2 & 3yr old Fillies. 4 out of the 6 entered came forward and the beautiful Lakkana (Hakka x Lapsana) showed herself off to first place with Aatiqah (Azteq x Casablanca Bint Djammal) second and Lanehyar ZB (Khidar x Letisha) third. It wasn’t Aazadina’s (Aazari
x Edina) day; however, if there was a class for colour alone, she would have won hands down!
Another disappointing turnout with only one horse forward was the 1-3yr old Gelding Class saw lone Nooral Noufous (WH Justice x Noura) get a good warm-up and a look at the crowd before the Purebred Youngstock Championship
The Championship saw the females sweeping the board with Lakkana (Hakka x Lapsana) standing Supreme, Aatiqah (Azteq x Casablanca Bint Djammal)
Reserve and the gorgeous young filly Kaamelia (Emiliusz x Tehama Ballalina) Reserve Reserve.

Taher |
The Senior Purebred classes proved more popular with 7 forward for the 4yr old & over Geldings. As with the Anglo & PBA Geldings class earlier in the day, Judge Miss V Booth had a tough job as several stood out as potential winners. Although, this time, my favourite, the striking Liver Chestnut Taher (Narim Rasb x Queen Topaz)shone through to take the top spot, with Bey Daghmah (Ganemedex Dahmah) second and late entry WLA Falcorr (Kaamal x Maakhana) in third. |
|
The ever elegant ladies were next and a faultless show ensured a win for the beautiful Mirage (Premier x Medallela) The Tersk bred Neugomonnaia (Gordon x Nanata) stood in second place with third going to Om El Shabrina Dream (Dreamcatcher SMF x Om El Shadiva)
Last, but certainly not least, of the day were the Pure Bred Stallions. Always a crowd pleaser they strutted their stuff, snorting and blowing, and showed-off their magnificent tails! Eddashaan (Orashaanx Edina) was impeccably behaved and duly awarded first place ahead of the calm and serene Juma (Sambist x Jerba Du Paon) Third place went to the stunning grey Germanikus.(Azteq x Promice) |
Lakkana |
The Championship was a delight to watch as an exhibition of the sheer beauty and quality of the Arabian Breed. Lakkana (Hakka x Lapsana) stood Supreme ahead of Reserve Mirage, (Premier x Medallela) and I was especially pleased that my overall favourite of the day Taher (Narim Rasb x Queen Topaz) was awarded Reserve Reserve.

The sun truly was shining on Ardingly as I headed home and saw the numerous happy faces of exhibitors preparing to leave. Something that I must mention is the stunning rosettes and prizes provided by the SEAHG and sponsors of the show. Although yet to find rosettes that stay on when performing a lap of honour, I think everyone was in agreement that they really were beautiful and plentiful!
I’d also like to highlight the great work that the Brooke Hospital are doing, not only in their charitable work, but also in the valuable role they play offering a second chance to unwanted Arabian Memorabilia! I was lucky enough to pick up a National Show Catalogue from 1990. An unwanted piece of clutter for some, it has become a real treasure to me as my own horse is listed in there and some kind person even wrote the results in! To have a record of when Peter Upton placed my boy 3rd at the Nationals is priceless to me! So please keep donating your unwanted Programmes, Magazines, Books, Pictures, Plates and anything else you may not need anymore to the Brooke Hospital to sell. You never know, you just may make someone’s day!
On a final note I would like to thank the SEAHG Committee for again holding a fantastic show, the judges for giving up their time and of course all of the exhibitors for sharing their beautiful horses with us! |
