SEAHG Spring Show - 20 April 2008
Ridden classes report

The ridden classes got underway with judge Mrs D McDonald-Bassett riding the pure bred novice mares. With only three out of seven mares forward all qualified for the SEAHG HOYS championship which will be held at our Summer ridden show at Ardingly on Sunday 6th July. First place went to the straight Spanish chestnut mare, SA Carmen (Borneo x Camela), ridden by Georgina Rees, 2nd was Bourningwood Imagination (Imad x Azara Bint Azadik) ridden by Samatha Gardner and owned by Ms Miles and 3rd was a late entry, Corisande (Kasadi x Eleanor), bred by Mrs M Calvert and owned and ridden by Mrs A E Edwards.

The novice geldings followed the mares and Mandy Burr with WLA Falcorr (Kamaal x Maakhana) secured the first place which qualify them for the British Arabian Championships and a place at our HOYS championship in the summer. Also qualifying for SEAHG HOYS was Mrs L Payne’s True Shantu (WSA Chrismma x Estapasham) in second and junior member Bella Jackson riding Red House Merlin (Hadj x Red House Karima) taking third place.
The three entries in the novice stallion class found it unsettling. Mrs G Bryan’s Ibn Al Antoon (Antoon x Kariszma) ridden by Rachel Dear took first position with Egatist (Artist x Egala) in second.
There were more mares in the open class than the novice and this time Corisande (Kasadi x Eleanor) came in first place with Rachel Dear riding in the blue ribbon position on Rokokoa (Hakka x Bint Katarina) whilst third place went to Jo Furr on NPA Kurrannah (Shaikh Al Kuran x Havannah), all three qualifying for the SEAHG HOYS.
The open ridden geldings class was a very strong class with 9 entries coming forward. Amanda Miller’s snow white Mahradi (Flet x Amirah of Markaren) won and Mandy Burr claimed her second BAC qualifier, this time riding Fatten (D’Albert x Vermeille). Junior member Monique Wallace rode third placed Grenade (Grenlando x Silver Sariche).
Four ridden stallions graced the ring for the next class and striding into first position and reclaiming his open ridden stallion title was the Comptons grey stallion, SHF Warrior (Warranty x SHF Mint Julep). He was followed by Judith Powell’s bay stallion Juma (Sambist  (SU) x Jerba Du Paon (FR), ridden by Maria Pook, and their place had the added reward of a BAC qualifying card along with the third placed Moonhills A Star Is Born (Ali Baba des Alps x Mona Bint Sawith), ridden by Victoria Ayling for owner Ms S O’Rourke.
The Pure Bred Ridden Championships was awarded to Mahradi (Flet x Amirah of Markaren) adding to his Supreme Ridden Champion success at the Norfolk and Suffolk Regional Spring Show earlier this April. SHF Warrior (Warranty x SHF Mint Julep) was Reserve and the Reserve Reserve went to SA Carmen (Borneo x Camela).

We then had a change of judge as Miss V Russell-Wood, who had literally stepped of the plane from Egypt to join us, came into the ring to judge the Small Riding Horse class, kindly sponsored by Mrs M Eydmann. Abbas Music (Cusop Disciplin x  Abbas Racing Colours), owned by Caroline Fallows, collected her red ribbon along with the Denarius Trophy and The Balanced Horse Feeds Championship Qualifier, held in September at Pachesham Equestrian Centre, Leatherhead, Surrey. Also qualifying in second place was Portunas (Galeon x Ino) ridden by Sandra Clacey.
The Large Riding Horse was won by Night Shadow (Yealand Night Owl x Arndilly Rose), this year with a change of rider as Chloe Heaver was in the saddle instead of her sister, Alice. Jo Heasman riding Belle Vue Highlander (Kizar x Lady of Iona) in second place, whilst Silvern Sunset ridden by Lisa Davies came in third.
It was great to see that the Amateur Rider class was as equally as popular as the Amateur Handler class. First place went to junior member Monique Wallace, riding Grenade (Grenlando x Silver Sariche), and second went to Alice Heaver riding Minoru Chatterbox (Espirit De Ferzon x Birdie).
Dancing Kawand

The ring stayed full as the qualifying class for the Midland Arab Group National Championship for Young Riders was judged next. Following on from the success of their previous class, the combination of Monique Wallace on Grenade (Grenlando x Silver Sariche) took first place. Tanya Slade on Czirenzar (Centurionn x Czeresnia) bred by Major & Mrs Maxwell came in second and Tabetha Mair was third riding Dancing Kawand (Ibn Al Kawand x Dancing Coranet). Congratulations to all the young riders who took part in the show. It is so encouraging to see more and more youngsters showing the Arabian horse, this gives great promise for the future of the breed.
Proving that there is no substitute for experience, four golden oldies took part in the veteran ridden class. Part bred Arabian Classique Triumph (Bamboo Saucer x Millbrok Janandrea) ridden by Samatha Jones. Valletta Madirigal (Hunters Song x High Elms Mahranna) ridden by Miss G Rees. Nazaan owned by Alison Dursley and Kashish (Dhruv  x Princess Roxanya) owned and bred by Marian Eydmann were placed in that order.
The first of the Anglo & Part Bred classes was kindly sponsored by Mr and Mrs T Dear and Deanhills Prince Regent (Sandbourne Royal Ensign x Bradmore Nutkin) took home the Chequer Tree Farm trophy. Sandlings California Dreaming (Westacre Comic Opera x Ninefield Thached) ridden by Annabel Rainbow was second and Classique Triumph (Bamboo Saucer x Millbrok Janandrea) came in third.
Winner of the Anglo & Part Bred ridden 153 cm & under class was Ninfield Windsor Girl (Westacre Comic Opera x Ninfield Arctic Thatch) ridden by Monique Wallace. Sharing the same sire as the winner in third was Sandlings California Dreaming (Westacre Comic Opera x Ninefield Thatched) whilst splitting them was Cathy Palmer’s Sahereca Gracious Gift in second who also had the bonus of qualifying for the Cherif championship.

The larger Anglo & Part Bred ridden Arab (over 153cms) class was in next. Naomi Nurha (Blue Madrigal x Honey Lady) owned by Emma Duggan and ridden by Alix Grahame won and took the second Cherif qualifying card of the day. Night Shadow (Yealand Night Owl x Arndilly Rose) was second and Belle Vue Highlander (Kizar x Lady of Iona) in third
The final class of the day was the Anglo and part Bred Ridden Championship and The Silverdale Cup went to the wonderfully compact novice part bred winner, Deanhills Prince Regent (Sandbourne Royal Ensign x Bradmore Nutkin) owned by Mr L Glynn. Finishing a successful day in Reserve was Ninfield Windsor Girl (Westacre Comic Opera x Ninfield Arctic Thatch) ridden by Monique Wallace and our Reserve Reserve was the over 153cms winner, Naomi Nurha (Blue Madrigal x Honey Lady).
It was fantastic to see well supported ridden classes at such a good standard. Many thanks must go to both judges and also the stewards and many volunteers who offered their valuable time to create yet another successful SEAHG show. Congratulations to all and I hope to see you all at Ardingly for the SEAHG Summer Show in July.
